Why Trust SDT for Your Ultrasound Training Needs?
At SDT Ultrasound Solutions, our mission is to deliver research-based knowledge that condition monitoring practitioners can trust. Not only does SDT understand your training needs, we are in tune with the unique challenges adults face when tasked with learning new technologies and skills.
Our course material is geared to the way you learn. Our instructors bring experiences and self-awareness when they teach. We approach education from three domains.
This domain refers to the body of knowledge around any particular subject. Think of it as theoretical and foundational information. It’s the “stuff” you need to guide you when it comes time to apply your newly learned skills.
This domain challenges your current belief structure. It produces alignments between the way you may have done things previously, and how you may do things differently with your newly learned skills.
This domain prepares you to make a difference; to challenge the status quo, and hopefully change the world. It focuses your learning development on implementation, execution, work in teams, and creating measurable outcomes.
Adult learners need interactivity wherever possible. That poses challenges that most training organizations cannot overcome in a virtual classroom. Our trainers understand that you need opportunities to actually perform the tasks being taught. We strive to make online training even more interesting than its onsite version.
While some lessons lend themselves to interaction more easily than others, we use success studies, discussions, and problem solving to make our courses memorable and long-lasting.
If you are serious about learning how to utilize ultrasound to enhance your predictive maintenance programs you need to check out this training for Level 1 certification. I was the first to take the training with this online format and I have to tell you it was an awesome experience. The trainer, the materials the content were second to none and it was also a fun and interactive way to learn. I strongly feel that any one in the field of maintenance and reliability needs to add this to their training schedules for themselves and their teams. SDT has knocked it out of the park with this LIVE Online Level 1 Certification program.

2021 is NOT 2019 And it May Never be Again
The world has changed and with that, so has the way knowledge and skills are transferred. Hotels and meeting rooms have quickly been displaced by virtual classrooms. Where it once made sense to sit for an 8-hour lecture, you no longer have that luxury. Driven by necessity, knowledge and skills must now be consumed in short bursts, spread over longer time frames.
The fact is, we learn better this way anyways; so why not embrace it?
It’s a well-published fact that adults retain about 10% of what they see, closer to 40% when seeing is combined with hearing, and as much as 90% when “doing” is added to seeing and hearing. In any given learning scenarios; Be that a seminar, a webinar, or a classroom, the challenge is to combine seeing, hearing, and doing into multiple memorable learning experience.
Another challenge we face is time and attention span. We simply don’t have enough of it. You will not succeed to learn all you need to know from trainers utilizing out-dated training models.
Imagine sitting through 8-hour days, eyes and ears glued to your monitor, while your instructor tries valiantly to lecture. You will tune out! You will not get what you paid for. This is a square peg being firmly driven into a round hole. At some point, somethings got to give.
Learn Like a Kid Again
The iconic children’s TV series Sesame Street debuted on November 10, 1969 and is now in its 51st year. That’s more than a half decade of educational entertainment geared toward a youthful audience but with so many qualities that apply to adult learners.
Research from the University of Maryland and Wellesley College revealed that children watching Sesame Street were afforded a leg up on peers who missed out. The study showed that school performance improved, particularly for boys. This is attributed to the entertaining and immersive ways that academic content was delivered.
Where Sesame Street was truly a pioneer is the science of delivering messages in small doses. Producers knew precisely how much time they had to retain their audience’s attention. Stray over by a few seconds created the risk they may turn away to their coloring book, matchbox racing car, or rag doll.
SDT’s online teaching subscribes to the same model. Each module is short in duration, on point, and referenced to real-life experiences. Instructors use visual imagery that bring concepts to life.
Online and On-Demand
Live courses run at regular times but are made available on-demand. Missed a live session? No problem! Pick up the recorded lecture and join the next live scheduled session. Never fall behind.
SDT certification training is delivered by live instructors with massive experience spanning decades in-the-field. While the training is virtual, it will seem like you are virtually there.
Modules are lively, informative, and interactive. Instructors start each session 15 minutes before the scheduled class begins. This is perfect for you early birds who want to review the previous lesson, ask questions, or just chat about condition monitoring.
Our instructors are friendly, passionate, and driven to help you succeed. Their job is done when you create a world class, sustainable ultrasound program that changes your world.
Certification – What you Need to Know About the SDT Standard of Excellence
With over 45 years pioneering ultrasound technology, you will not find a more comprehensive online classroom experience than this. With many thousands of ultrasound inspectors already certified through our onsite events, SDT is the trusted and favourite company to turn to for your certification needs.
This course exceeds the basic and simplified requirements of ISO 18436-8. This ISO standard addresses the singular technical knowledge domain. It does not challenge students to question their current belief position. Nor does it prepare them to safely apply their new skills in working environments.
This course coincides with the required recommended practices of the American Society for Non-Destructive Testing. SNT-TC-1A sets the standard for foundational knowledge as it applies to ultrasound and other NDT techniques. Past SDT employees sat at the table with ASNT to develop practices that remain relevant decades later.
Certification is only awarded to students who sit the minimum of 32 hours of instruction, constant quizzing, graded assignments, and a final exam. But rather than bore you into submission, those 32 hours are spread over a manageable timeframe. No lesson lasts longer than 2 hours.
Extensive real-world lessons supported by case studies, success stories, practical examples, open discussion, and memorable exercises.
Our instructors are the best of the best. They have real-world experience and decades of ultrasound knowledge. Adult instruction is a unique and special skill set. Our instructors are frequent guest lecturers at conferences, colleges, and technical schools. Learning is their passion. Teaching is their gift.
SDT is the pioneering company behind ultrasound and has done more to advance the technology than any other organization. We are recognized by our peers, our colleagues, and organizations such as Relaibiltyweb.com and Plant Engineering for our excellence and contribution to advancing reliability through better condition monitoring techniques.
